Annie didn't say anything at first. She lay there watching him quietly as her eyes looked over him as if they were scanning him. Her expression was neutral, but her eyes held a hint of sadness to it. It could have been resignation instead.

"Can I tell you a secret?" She said finally in a quiet voice.
