Whenever he's nervous, Peter has a habit of stumbling over his words. It was embarrassing when he did it in front of Liz, but it's somehow more embarrassing to be fumbling over them in the presence of Mr. Stark.
Peter presses his lips together, still considering Tony's offer.
"Would you?" he asks, even though he's not entirely convinced it will make things better. "I think maybe if she knows that I'm not just out there on my own without anybody else, she'll feel better about it."
May couldn't exactly do anything if Peter wound up in danger. But Mr. Stark could. And he'd saved him more than once.
